Dr. Amber Meade Owner
Dr. Meade earned her veterinary degree from North Carolina State University in 2009, and she became certified in acupuncture by attending the Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians course in Colorado. Prior to opening Broadway Veterinary Hospital Durham, Dr. Meade worked as a veterinarian in a corporate small animal hospital, a private practice small animal hospital, and an animal emergency hospital. Prior to pursuing veterinary medicine, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tampa, majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. Upon graduation, she worked as a veterinary assistant in a 24-hour emergency and referral animal hospital and at a human infectious disease laboratory utilizing PCR to detect disease. This led her to pursue a graduate degree in Immunology at Duke University in Durham. However, her passion for working with animals remained, and after earning her Master of Science degree, she pursued her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Meade is proud to be a small business owner within the Durham community. She believes it is important to support small, locally owned businesses to help strengthen the local economy and community. She officially considers herself a Durhamite and hopes to live, work, and retire in Durham. Dr. Meade will always have pets in her household—at any given time, that means multiple cats and likely at least one dog!
Dr. Jessica Hartz Veterinarian
Dr. Jessica Hartz has always had a passion for two things: people and animals—she couldn’t imagine a more well-suited career than being a veterinarian. Dr. Hartz earned her veterinary degree from the University of Georgia in May 2025. She has a particular interest in preventive medicine, shelter medicine, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. She is Fear Free Certified and a Certified Peaceful Euthanasia Veterinarian. Prior to veterinary school, she worked full-time as a veterinary assistant for two years at a small animal general practice in Atlanta, as well as a part-time farmhand at a horse farm in Conyers, Georgia.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Hartz attended Rice University in Houston, Texas, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. She fell in love with veterinary medicine after taking an animal physiology class as an elective. From then on, she was bullish (pun intended!) in pursuing her passion. Dr. Hartz now resides in Durham with her fiancé. Together they enjoy spending time outdoors, horseback riding, hanging out with friends, playing board games, and trying new restaurants. She is also a regular at Pure Barre Durham, just down the street from Broadway Veterinary Hospital!

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology and earned her Associate of Applied Science degree with a 4.0 GPA.
Megan has worked in the veterinary field for 17 years in a variety of roles, including kennel staff, in-home pet care, receptionist, zoo assistant, and surgical technician. Her love of animals inspired her to pursue a career where she could help care for them every day. At home, she has two young feline sons, Tyrion and Chadwick, who keep her busy outside of work. Whenever she finds free time, she enjoys visiting the beach, amusement parks, spending time in the sunshine, watching horror movies, gaming, and relaxing in a hammock by the lake.

Liz Lead Customer Service Representative
Liz is an experienced veterinary professional with a passion for animal care. She is originally from the mountains of western North Carolina and attended Appalachian State University, where she chose to stay in Boone after graduation.
Liz began her veterinary career as a kennel attendant, caring for boarding dogs and cats. Over time, she transitioned into the treatment area, learning from experienced registered veterinary technicians. She remained with that hospital for 13 years, working as a veterinary assistant and manager. She also picked up a part-time position at the local veterinary emergency clinic because, as she says, she didn’t like having too much free time. Helping pets and supporting their families through difficult moments continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of her career.
After welcoming her son, Liz transitioned to full-time emergency medicine before relocating to Durham at the end of 2019. She spent three years at a corporate veterinary practice before deciding to return to private practice. Today, she enjoys welcoming clients and patients as Broadway Veterinary Hospital’s Lead Customer Service Representative. At home, she shares life with her son and her cat, Eartha Kitt. In her spare time, she enjoys tabletop role-playing games, horror movies, cross-stitch, crochet, and delightfully bad monster films.
